David Flint





David Howard Flint was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from high school in 1963 in Decatur, Georgia, and he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with distinction, from West Georgia College (now the University of West Georgia) in Carrollton, Georgia, in 1967. Flint participated in the Debate Club and was an associate editor of the college newspaper. He majored in political science and minored in history and english. Flint then attended the Lamar School of Law at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Flint was granted a juris doctor degree in 1971. He was the first honor graduate and a member of the Order of the Coif and the Bryan Society. He was also on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Public Law and a finalist in Moot Court competition.

Before and while attending law school Flint was employed by the Georgia Power Company in Atlanta, Georgia, in the Industrial Relations Department. After graduation from law school he was an associate attorney with the Atlanta law firms of Fisher & Philips and Troutman, Sams, Schroeder & Lockerman and its successor, Troutman, Sanders, Lockerman & Ashmore.

In March, 1974, Flint was a founder of Schreeder, Wheeler & Flint, LLP. He enjoys an excellent reputation as a trial and appellate lawyer. He represents clients in antitrust, first amendment problems, land use and zoning, eminent domain, public housing law, construction claims, white collar crime investigations, and complex business disputes. He frequently serves as an arbitrator and mediator and lectures at CLE seminars. Flint is regarded as an accomplished advocate and a person who knows how to resolve legal disputes.

During the past thirty-nine years, Flint has been involved in many of the most highly publicized cases in the Southeast. He has successfully prosecuted or defended claims for his clients in highway and utility bid rigging investigations, price fixing in agricultural commodities, charges of public corruption, corporate derivative actions, land use issues, claims against government authorities on construction contracts, business torts and products liability and negligence claims involving elevators, escalators, lighting products and electrical equipment.

Flint is a nationally recognized expert in the law governing outdoor advertising. He has established important precedents involving First Amendment rights, protection against regulatory takings, valuation, and limitations on the exercise of the police power.

Flint is a member of several business and civic organizations including the American Opportunity Foundation, the Arnold Foundation, the Atlanta Law School Foundation, the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation, Dixie Industrial Finishing Company, Georgia Primary Bank, Georgia State University Foundation, Ruby Construction Company, the Shepherd Center, and Westside Bank. Flint is a member of the Advocates Club, the Buckhead Lions Club, Capital City Club, and the Old War Horse Lawyers Club.

Flint is married to the former Sandra Lee Love and has two adult sons – one an attorney and the other a real estate developer – who both live in Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. Flint have four grandchildren. As a board member since 2005, Flint has served as an asset to Prevent Blindness Georgia for 5 years.
