During the 2009 legislative session, Prevent Blindness Georgia and the American Diabetes Association partnered to host a luncheon for the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. Jenny Pomeroy, CEO of Prevent Blindness Georgia, spoke to the committee members about PBGA's mission and work.
In addition, Pomeroy took the opportunity to advocate for the inclusion of school nurse funding in the state budget. Funds for this line item were facing budget cuts which, partially due to a vocal group of advocates, were not made. Pomeroy spoke about the role of the state's school nurses, many of whom have been trained to vision screen by Prevent Blindness Georgia. |
