Computers and Vision

Looking at a computer screen regularly or for long periods of time can not harm your eyes or hurt your vision, however it can cause eyestrain. In order to avoid eyestrain, make the following changes to your workspace.
- Place your screen 20 to 26 inches away from your eyes and a little bit below eye level.
- Place a document holder next to your computer screen close enough so you don’t have to swing your head back and forth or constantly change your eye focus.
- Change your lighting to decrease glare and harsh reflections or place a glare filter over your computer screen.
- Use an adjustable chair and keyboard.
- Use screens that can tilt and swivel.
