Level 1 Trainer Certification
This year PBNC will offer a new certification!!! Level 1 Trainers will be qualified to teach the practical (hands-on portion) of the PBNC Children’s Vision Screening Certification Course. They can then supervise practice sessions for their team members who need to complete the second part of the training. For this pilot year, each team can have a maximum of 2 trainers. Trainer candidates must have current PBNC Children’s Vision Screening certification and have personally screened at least 100 children. Trainer candidates must attend a theory course, followed by a short seminar on the training curriculum. Trainer candidates must then attend a practice session where they will be observed by PBNC staff to complete their Level 1 Trainer certification. Please see attached document for more complete information on Level 1 Trainer requirements.
Online Recertification Course
The on-line re-certification course will be available starting September, 2012 for those whose current certification expires September 2012 or later. Email notifications will be sent to notify those who are due to be recertified. However, we don’t have everyone’s email address, so we will send out team lists with certification expiration dates in early September. Even if they do not receive an email, if a screener’s certification is due to expire the screener should contact our office for information on how to sign up for the webinar.
