Annular Solar Eclipses

Annular Solar Eclipses

Annular solar eclipses are often described as a “ring of fire” because a thin outer layer of the sun’s disk is not completely covered by the moon when the moon passes in front of the sun as viewed from the surface of the earth. An annular solar eclipse will be visible from parts of the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. all the way to the Gulf of Mexico on October 14, 2023. You must use proper protection, such as properly manufactured solar eclipse glasses, when watching an annular solar eclipse.
