Integrating Vision and Eye Health into Existing Programs and Systems
Community Health Centers are perfectly positioned to meet the comprehensive eye care needs of high risk and underserved populations while also reducing costs and preventing greater morbidity and inequity in eye health. The following issue brief provides considerations and recommendations for assisting a community health center in assessing and planning for the sustainability of integrating comprehensive eye care services for the benefit of its patients.
Seeing the Way to Better Health Issue Briefs
The Seeing the Way to Better Health issue briefs target three areas of health where vision and eye health can be incorporated into new and existing health programs – brain health, diabetes, and women’s health. The issue briefs were created to support state, local, and community programs with the integration of vision and eye health strategies into their programming. Each issue brief contains an overview of the role for vision in the specific health area, a variety of resources, and supporting graphics for use in communications. These issue briefs were developed in partnership with the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors.
