Protecting vision has been part of my life since I became a Delta Gamma thirty years ago. As the CEO of Prevent Blindness Texas and an active Delta Gamma, it truly is the convergence of personal and professional relationships that come together in this partnership. I am thrilled that we have the opportunity to share resources and knowledge to drive our missions forward to prevent and preserve vision in every way possible. It truly is an honor to represent both organizations, Prevent Blindness and Delta Gamma, in this endeavor.  My hope is that we go out and “Do Good” together to have the greatest impact possible in the world of vision and beyond.

Prevent Blindness and the Delta Gamma Foundation have a rich history, dating back to the initiation of the Foundation’s support in 2004 to support our sight-saving work. In the ensuing years, Prevent Blindness has utilized Delta Gamma Foundation funding to provide national leadership, evidence-based best practices, infrastructure development, professional education and technical assistance, national vision screening certification, and state-based performance improvement systems.

This ongoing partnership has improved vision and eye health for millions of children in the U.S. Thank you for all you do in service for sight!

In the past 3 years, the Delta Gamma Foundation supported Prevent Blindness outreach to families through distribution of the Small Steps for Big Vision parent education tool kit, by providing scholarships for the Prevent Blindness Children’s Vision Screening Certification Course to help reach medically underserved children, by conducting webinars attended by hundreds of professionals, and through the successful “Delta Gamma Reads for Sight” project, pairing Delta Gamma chapters with preschools and elementary schools in low-income areas to read books about vision and visual impairment and conduct fun activities with young children.
