Prevent Blindness America to Host Free Webinar on Diabetic Eye Disease- Oct. 24, 2012
CHICAGO (Oct. 5, 2012) – Prevent Blindness America, the nation’s oldest volunteer eye health non-profit organization, will be hosting a free webinar to address the skyrocketing increase in diabetic eye disease cases. According to the 2012 Vision Problems in the U.S. report from Prevent Blindness America and the National Eye Institute, more than 7.6 million Americans have diabetic retinopathy, an 89 percent increase since 2002.
As part of the “Live Right, Save Sight!” program from Prevent Blindness America, a national campaign designed to provide free information to the public on diabetes, its impact on eye health, and how healthy lifestyle practices can help to prevent vision loss from diabetes, the non-profit is offering the “Live Right, Save Sight: Tools to Help Prevent Diabetic Eye Disease” webinar on Wed., Oct. 24, 2012 from 1:00 – 1:45 pm (EST). In advance of November’s Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month, the webinar will equip those providing diabetes education with information about diabetic eye disease and why it is important to discuss with patients and clients, tools available through Prevent Blindness America Diabetic Eye Disease Educator Program, and a testimonial on how the PBA Diabetic Eye Disease Educator Program can be used in practice.
