Prevent Blindness supports UN Special Envoy on Vision appointment

Prevent Blindness supports the appointment of a Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on Vision to the United Nations

Today, Prevent Blindness has requested that Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, join us in calling for this appointment. In 2021, the UN General Assembly adopted the first-ever “Vision for Everyone” resolution to address the growing public health and economic impact of vision and eye health problems across the globe.

A Special Envoy would support the Secretary General and the World Health Organization in advancing the aims of this resolution by providing a much-needed focal point for cross-sector global action to address vision and eye health concerns that carry enormous public health and economic burdens
